Joseph Scurti Obituary

SCURTI, Joseph D., Sr. "Joe" Of West Berlin, age 84 yrs., on March 7, 2011 went home to be with his parents and son on the same day his mother passed away 19 years ago. Devoted father of Joseph D. (Joyce) Scurti, Jr. of Chesilhurst, Kimberly A. (Bruce) Meisenzahl of Medford and the late Dominic J. Scurti. Loving grandfather of Christina, Jason, Jacquelyn, Michael, Nicole, Ryan, Joseph and Stephen. Beloved brother of Vincent "Jimmy" (Carmie) Scurti, Sr. and Phyllis "Foo" (Martin) Olek. Also survived by many nieces and nephews whom he loved and many friends who were like family to him. Joe served his country in the Navy, aboard the USS Langley, during WWII. He worked for 38 yrs. at Owens-Corning Fiberglass Berlin as a Molt-Shop Foreman. After retiring from Owens, Joe worked for B&B Custom Drywall Comp. of Berlin Twp. He was a former member of the Italian-American Club of West Berlin. In his younger days, Joe played football for the Berlin Bears. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing cards on Friday nights. He loved to spend time with family and friends and adored his grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing this Friday 9:15 to 10:45 am at St. Simon Stock Parish/Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, White Horse Pike at Franklin Ave, Berlin, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am. Joe's family requests in lieu of flowers, donations in his memory be made to Vitas Hospice Charitable Fund, 521 Fellowship Rd., Suite 110, Mt. Laurel, NJ 08054.
