To the family of Lacy Sutton, I want to extend my heartfelt sympathies. I was a very small part of Lacy's past as a student at Aspinall High School. He was a friend and football teammate of my older brother Bill. This is a short story for his kids and grandkids....of how much fun we underclassmen had in school when we knew Lacy was in study hall with us. When I had library time with Lacy....I could hardly wait to get to school for a time of hilarity and mischief. He was so innocent looking that Mrs. Shoop, the librarian, never caught him and blamed everyone else ...The funniest time was when he put a leg and shoulder out the window of the second floor library window and demanded that Mrs. Shoop tell him she loved him or he was jumping. She was frantically running about telling Lacy how much she loved him and that he was her favorite.... at which time he climbed back in...(that would had put Lacy in lockdown today)...He stirred things up so much that it was infectious to the degree that he got the rest of us acting up to make fun happen. Because of him, I was sent to the principal's office and nearly got suspended... he instigated me into cutting all the chords off of all the blinds on the big high windows... and then send the blinds up to the top out of reach- My memories of him are such that I can't even hear his name without smiling and laughing. (When I was teaching high school in New Jersey and my kids would act up... I pretended to be angry.....but inwardly I chuckled to myself, these kids ain't seen nothin...remembering library with Lacy.) I feel blessed to have had him in my life for that short but most memorable time. He put the fun in dysfunctional. I can just imagine how much he will be missed.

We are so sorry for your loss. Uncle Lacy was a most remarkable man, unlike any other uncle I've ever had. His laughter was infectious, his smile could brighten any room, & his sense of humor could make anyone laugh hysterically. From the Bonneville incident, impersonations that were on point, to delicious recipes, & carefully crafted holiday cards, he was one-in-a-billion. So much truly made him unforgettable. He was present for every milestone in my life. He had a gentle heart, he was caring, kind, but above all, he loved his family. The last time I saw him, he was so overcome with emotion about the love he has for my dear Aunt Mary who took amazing care of him for years. They were such a beautiful couple, a true role model for a happy marriage. There wasn't a time that I didn't see them laughing, the cornerstone of strong marriage. When they met my husband Trip, they instantly accepted him. We will never forget him. God has another angel in heaven, watching over us all. Aunt Mare we are so sorry & this void will never be filled. He was an original. We will miss him. We love you so much. You & the family are in our hearts, thoughts, & prayers always. God Bless. xoxo
