On October 3, 2016, (nee Dexter) of San Jose, CA and formerly of Pennsauken, NJ, age 82. COFFEY, Muriel I., 82, originally of Pennsauken, New Jersey on October 3, 2016.

Born in Camden, NJ and graduated from Moorestown High School, Mrs. Coffey had lived in Pennsauken, NJ prior to moving to San Jose, California. She was a veteran, having served as Yeoman 2nd Class in the US Navy from 1952-1956. She was the secretary to the vice principal of Pennsauken Jr. High/Phifer Middle School for over two decades. An active member of Bethel Methodist Church in Camden, she taught Sunday School and volunteered monthly at the Senior Citizens Brunch, and she loved attending events at church - especially the hymn sings

After retirement she was an active member and volunteer of Calvary United Methodist Church in San Jose, where she volunteered weekly in the church office.

She is survived by her son, Larry Coffey (Laura Coffey), of Placerville, CA and her daughter, Beth Coffey-Fite, of Columbia, SC. She is also survived by her sister, Jessie Welty (Robert Welty), a niece Donna Robinson (Mark Robinson), two nephews, Robbie Welty and Curtis Welty (Peggy Sue Ann Welty), three adoring granddaughters (Carina Coffey, Laurel and Janelle Fite), one grandnephew and two grandnieces.

Relatives and friends are invited to meet for her memorial service on Tuesday, December 27th at 7:00 PM at Trinity United Methodist Church, 36 W. Maple Ave, Merchantville, NJ 08109. In lieu of flowers her family suggests memorial donations be made to her favorite charity, Heifer International, www.heifer.org, to help end hunger.
