R. Dewees Obituary
Southport, NC - R. David Dewees of Southport NC, formerly of Cherry Hill, NJ died peacefully at home on Friday, June 18, 2021. Born September 24, 1954, David is survived by his loving wife, Elisa (nee Barry), stepchildren Brian Kelly, and Sherri (Dave) Marmon, mother Elizabeth Dewees, brother Jonathan (Carolynn) Dewees, sister Robin Dewees of Medford and Gail Dewees of Pottstown PA, nephews Matthew Dewees, Alexander Cavan, and nieces Jessica and Lauren Dewees, and Elizabeth and Emily Cavan. He is predeceased by his father, Robert H. Dewees. David was a 1972 graduate of Cherry Hill High School East and attended Lynchburg College. He was co-owner of the former Dewees Business Systems that operated in Camden and Cherry Hill for many years. He was a member and past President of South Jersey Coastal Fly Anglers (SJCFA) and former member and President of the Haddonfield Jaycees. Dave was an avid freshwater and saltwater fly fisherman and a skilled woodworker who enjoyed making furniture, taking on home renovations and projects. He was always willing to lend a hand to help others. He was dearly loved and will be missed by all whose lives he touched. Donations in David's memory can be made to Reel Recovery, an organization helping men in the cancer recovery process by introducing them to the healing powers of the sport of fly-fishing, while providing a safe, supportive environment to explore their personal experiences of cancer with others who share their stories. https://reelrecovery.org. Memorial service and interment will be private.

Elisa and family, you are in our thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time. We were blessed to have met Dave when we all first moved to NC from So Jersey. Upon meeting him we knew he was a great guy who adored you Elisa, you could see it when he looked at you! Hold on to those memories, feel his presence and strength in all that you do.

So very sorry to hear of this. I went to and graduated with Dave. He always had a smile on his face. Sending all of you lots of prayers, hugs, and condolences.
