Ronald R. Atzert, Sr.

Edgewater Park - Ronald Atzert, Sr. from Edgewater Park passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 13, 2018. He was 80 years old. Born on December 1, 1938 to the late Francis and Elizabeth (Marris) Atzert, Ronald was raised in Beverly and attended Burlington City High School. After proudly serving his country in the US Navy from 1956-1960 on the U.S.S. Forrestal and the U.S.S. Independence, Ron worked at K-Line Industries in Trenton until his retirement in 2004, as well as a part-time police officer in both Edgewater Park and Beverly for twenty-two years, from 1967-1989.

Ron leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years, Theresa (Ross). He was the loving and devoted father of Ronald Atzert Jr. (GiGi), Darren Atzert Sr. (Michelle) both of Edgewater Park, and Donna (Matthew) Mount of Delran. His grandchildren were his world and he will be dearly missed by Darren Atzert Jr., Raeann Atzert, Anthony Atzert, Arianna Mount, Zoe Mount, and Danielle Scheuerer (Aaron); and great-granddaughter, lsla Rae Scheuerer, as well as his four-legged girl, Pepper. Ron is also survived by one sister, Betty Jo (David) Janocha and was preceded in death by his brothers, Francis, Albert and John; and was loved by many nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.

Ron was always ready to share a laugh and was an avid sports fan. He loved to spend his time watching the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles! He even had the opportunity to go to a Phillies World Series game! He loved to travel with his wife and spend time in Florida visiting with family and friends, as well as play golf any chance he could get, especially with his favorite foursome.

Come celebrate 80 great years Wednesday 6-8:30 p.m. and Thursday from 9-10 a.m. at Sweeney Funeral Home, Riverside. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday 11 a.m. at Jesus the Good Shepherd Parish, St. Joseph Church, Beverly. Interment, Beverly National Cemetery, Beverly. In lieu of flowers donations to Wounded Warrior Project (Woundedwarriorproject.org) or Shriners Hospitals for Children (shrinershospitalsforchildren.org) will be appreciated.
