Salvatore S. "Barrels" Corma
AGE: 79 • Deptford
Salvatore S. "Barrels" Corma, of Deptford, NJ on December 31, 2011. Age 79 years.
Legacy
Taking care of chores around the house, cooking great meals (like his specialty: crabs and spaghetti) and being the perfect "Mr. Mom" to "little Sal"; Sal was a traditional South Philly, Italian guy, who found himself living, an unconventional and rewarding life. The Rock of the Corma family, those who knew Sal, knew him as a quiet, generous guy with dry "one liners" that would keep everyone smiling. Prior to retirement in 1984, he was employed by General Electric, Philadelphia, as a wireman and assembler and as a member of IBEW Local 119, where he served as chief shop steward and union negotiator. Sal had an ear for good music. He enjoyed listening to singers like Sinatra (I did it my way) but had also played Accordion and Sax in local bands. Spending time with his family, traveling and cruising the world were times that Sal treasured immensely.
Family
Sal is the beloved husband of Gertrude H. "Trudy" (nee Keeney); devoted and proud father of the late 1st Lt. Salvatore S. Corma II, (US Army), Rose Burns (Paul) and Donna Palladino; dear brother of Annette Squillace (the late, Robert) and the late Rose Coccia; Loving grandfather of 4 and great-grandfather of 2; special uncle to many nieces and nephews and cousin to many.
