Sarah Jean (Sally) Chando

Easton, PA - Sarah Jean (Sally) Chando, 89, of Easton, PA, formerly from Phillipsburg, NJ, passed away on Thursday, April 15 at St. Luke's Hospital in Fountain Hill, PA. Sally was born November 25, 1931, and was the daughter of Biaggio and Rose Azzalina. Her husband of 60 years, George Chando, passed away on December 29, 2012.

Sally graduated from Phillipsburg High School, Class of 1949. She worked for over 20 years at Ingersoll-Rand in the Rock Drill Division. She was also a former volunteer at Warren Hospital and was a member of Sts. Philip & James Catholic Church in Phillipsburg, a member of the Over 50 Club, and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America.

She is survived by sons, David R. Chando (wife Catherine) of Haddon Heights, NJ, George M. Chando (wife Debbie) of Forks Township, PA, a daughter, Mary Ellen Callanan (husband Vincent) of Wilson Boro, PA; six grandchildren: Christa Chando, Erica Smith, Matthew Chando, Mark Chando, Shelby Callanan, and Patrick Callanan, and eight great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Evan, Tyler, and Brynn Chando; Juliette and Scarlett Smith; and Cael and Austin Chando; as well as a brother Joseph Azzalina of Wilson Boro, PA. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Grace Bonora.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday April 21, 2021 at Sts. Philip and James Catholic Church, 430 S. Main St., Phillipsburg, NJ at 10 am. Interment will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Alpha, NJ. The Finegan Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. www.fineganfh.com
