Stephen Saluga Obituary

79 of Medford went to be with the Lord on Friday June 6 2003 in Great Bay Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Tuckerton.
Born in York Run PA he was a lifelong resident of Medford. Mr. Saluga retired from the U.S. Army as a Chief Warrant Officer 2.
Stephen was in the 10th Wave of Omaha Beach on D-Day on June 6 1944 and passed away on the same date 59 years later. He was in the European Theatre traveling to France Holland and Germany. Some of his greatest military achievements include 2 Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star Medal. After WWII he traveled around the world until his retirement in 1967. In 1968 he opened the Saluga's Auto Body Shop in Southampton which is still operated today by his 2 sons Salvatore & Thomas.
Father of the late Stephen J. Saluga III killed in Vietnam in 1968 he is survived by 3 daughters and sons-in-law; Rosemary & John Kumpel of Tuckerton NJ Stephanie & Archie Kirk of Mt. Laurel NJ Susanna & Joseph Pannone of Tabernacle NJ 2 sons and daughters-in-law; Thomas and Diane Saluga of Southampton NJ Salvatore and Joyce Saluga of Tablernacle NJ; the mother of his children Sophie Saluga of Southampton; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 3 sisters Louise Wojcik of Morgantown WV Dorothy Costelow of New Florence PA and Midge Petryszak of Clerment FL several nieces nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday June 11 2003 from 6-8PM at THE MATHIS FUNERAL HOME 58 N. Main. St. Medford NJ 08055.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday June 12 2003 at 11AM from the Church of the Holy Eucharist 520 Medford Lakes Rd. Tabernacle. A calling hour will precede the Mass from 10-11AM at the church. Interment will follow in Brig. General Wm. C. Doyle Veteran's Cemetery N. Hanover Twp.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Saluga's memory to the Deborah Hospital 212 Trenton Rd. Browns Mills NJ 08015. Arrangements are under the direction of THE MATHIS FUNERAL HOME 58 N. Main St. Medford NJ 08055 (609)654-2439.
