Cesar Bello Obituary

Cesar A. Bello
Evansville, IN
Cesar Augusto Bello, 56, of Evansville, IN, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2012, at his residence.
Cesar Augusto Bello was born on December 12, 1955 in Bogota, Colombia. He moved to the United States with his family when he was 5 yrs. old, and lived out a life that epitomized the American dream. He was raised in Los Angeles and throughout his schooling always dreamt of becoming a doctor. While pursuing his dream, he met his love and companion for life, Maria, in 1975; together the two of them graduated from University of Pennsylvania and married in 1979. They went on to medical school together in Hershey, PA. They moved to work and raise their new family in Evansville in 1992. Cesar was an incredible husband, doctor, and father throughout his life. He truly loved life and woke up every morning with energy and excitement for the day. Cesar was very proud of his profession as a gastroenterologist where he impacted and touched many patients' lives. He always dressed in stylish suits with one of his many unique ties. He took great pride in his commitment to medicine. Even on weekends, not on-call, Dr. Bello rushed in to perform ERCPs so patients would avoid a transfer to Indianapolis. Cesar treated all his patients with equal respect, and thus they all loved and cherished his energetic and joyous bedside manner, as proven by the countless cards that were sent by his former patients during his illness. Despite his rigorous schedule, he made sure to attend all of his children's extracurricular activities and found time to workout at TSAC and keep himself "buffed." His happiest moments were traveling across the world with his wife and children. He loved to venture off the beaten path and traveled extensively in Central America, South America, Europe, and Africa. Cesar was a great lover of dancing, and he would often break out
into a one-man show whenever fast Latin music was playing. In truth, he was a bit of a "ham" when it came to dancing, but we all loved him for it. Cesar enjoyed the simple pleasures of life like weekend trips to the lake with family and friends. In hosting others in his home, he was truly one of the classiest and hospitable gentlemen. He would often sit down guests at the dinner table and enthusiastically offered them a glass of red wine, a plate of cheese, or a "spot of brandy". He was an optimistic character with an endearing smile. Cesar was also committed to his faith. He was a member of the Holy Rosary Church and actively participated in the Reitz Memorial High School community. He was the hero and inspiration in the lives of his two children, Carlos Cesar Bello and Jessica Sol Ismert. Cesar is also survived by his wife, Maria, son-in-law Vince Ismert, his mother: Maria, siblings: Yvonne, Jairo, and Rudy, in-laws, Rudy and Rosemarie, and all of their families.
A Mass will be held at 11am, Monday, September 24, 2012, at Holy Rosary, 1303 South Green River Road in Evansville with Father Bernie Etienne officiating. Burial will be Private.
Friends may call from 1pm until 7 pm, Sunday, September 23, 2012, at Boone Funeral Home - East Chapel where a Memorial Service will be held at 6pm.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Reitz Memorial High School Scholarship Fund in memory of Cesar Bello.

Dear Family of Dr. Cesar Bello. Cesar was a dear friend of mine in Jr. and Senior High school (King and Marshall) and after High School as well. He lived down the street from my family too. My Mom still lives on the corner of Cerro Gordo and Lemoyne in Echo Park. We lost touch when he went to college as people do, but I have tried to find him over the years without success. We are coming up on our 50th High School reunion this fall and in the process of searching for lost classmates Cesar's obituary was unearthed. Although I am greatly saddened to learn of his way to young passing, I am happy to hear that he realized his dream of becoming a doctor, marrying and becoming a father. And from what was written about him, he was a wonderful success at all of these endeavors. He was always a kind and caring person who loved his family, even as a young man. The world lost a good person in 2012. But he is remembered fondly by others from his past as well. I wish his wife and children all the blessings in the world. His friend forever Juanita Rose Hebert

I just learned of Dr. Bello's passing. I am so, so sorry. In 1996, I crawled into the emergency room. Within minutes, I met Dr. Bello. My esophagus collapsed. I was rushed into surgery. Dr. Bellows saved my life and gave me a new esophagus. I will be grateful for his knowledge, abilities, and people-skills for life!

I was so saddened to learn of Dr. Bello's passing; he brought me back to health when no other doctor knew what to do; I always called him "The Good Doc". His love for his family and his passion for life was always present and drew people to love him too. I only wish I could have seen him dance.

I am so sorry to read of the passing of Dr. Bello. He was a wonderful Doctor. He was doctor to both my brother whom I lost eight years ago, and my mother whom I lost only this last December. It was a great comfort to my family to know they were in such good hands at the time. I certainly offer my best to his family now. God bless.

So saddened to hear about Dr Bello, I have been going to him for years, and never had a doctor so caring as he was, I always felt the care I received was the very best, because he cared, he new me and my conditions so well. I would always hug him when he came in the room and tell him how much I cared about him because he honestly made me feel he cared about me. I will never forget his smile and his words of confort, for now I find myself giving words of comfort for the family, I am so so sorry to hear about the doctor's passing he truly will be missed. My prayers are with and for the family, God Bless. Donna Groves

Please accept my condolences for the loss of such a great man and physician. Not only will his family miss him so greatly, but as will the medical community of Evansville. You find this type of physican FEW and far between, to have this kind of committment and compassion, and rapport with his patients. As an employee of an Evansville hospital, and an aspiring nursing student it deeply saddens me to see such an illness take a great man so young. God Bless and comfort the family and friends in their time of need.
