David Steinkamp Obituary

David Edward Steinkamp

Evansville - David Edward Steinkamp, 72, of Evansville, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2020 at his home.

David was a longtime member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, where he was very active serving on the Finance Committee and Parish Council. He was also involved with the Men's Club working the Summer Social, Spot Shoot and various other church events. David was awarded the Brute Society Award for his service to the parish in 1991. He attended St. Agnes Grade School, Mater Dei High School and graduated from Indiana State University in Terre Haute with a degree in education. David worked as a teacher at St. Theresa, Christ the King and St. Anthony Catholic Schools. After retiring, he worked as a project manager for Environmental Management Consultants. David enjoyed woodworking and was an avid gardener. Due to his health problems in recent years, David wasn't able to be as active as he would have liked, but he enjoyed watching ball games on television, sitting on the front porch and spending time with his dog, Murphy.

Surviving David are his aunt, Grace Richter and cousins, Debbie (Mike) Hadfield, Pam (Jeff) Ambrose, Tom (Diane) Richter, Lisa (Dwayne) Martin and Michelle (Neal) Myers.

David was preceded in death by his mother, Edna Steinkamp in 2008.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 9:30 AM on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Rev. Theodore Tempel and Rev. John Brosmer officiating.

Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Friday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street and from 9:00 AM until service time on Saturday at St. Agnes Church, 1600 Glendale Ave.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wesselman Woods, 551 N. Boeke Road, Evansville, IN 47711 to benefit the Howell Wetlands.

I worked for Deig bros on the Ray Becker parkway . Every afternoon . David would walk to talk to every worker . A very nice and friendly . He knew a lot about everything . He would walk up and we all woldshout the sidewalk super intendent is here . Straighten up!, good man

I can still hear You know what I heard/herd? Buffalo!! He was a great man. I wish I would have been able to spend more time with him the past few years. We will miss him. Love to everyone whos life was touched by this man.
