He was born in Gallatin, Tenn., the son of Martha Jane Williams Whitson and the late George Hayden Whitson.
He was a police officer for the city of Bowling Green for eight years and a member of Lehman Avenue Church of Christ.
David graduated from Portland (Tenn.) High School, Western Kentucky University, F.O.P., Graduate Department of Criminal Justice Training at Eastern Kentucky University.
Surviving are his wife, Holly Jennifer Whitson; son, Jacob Aaron Whitson of Bowling Green; daughter, Hannah Elizabeth Whitson of Bowling Green; his mother, Martha Jane Williams Whitson of Portland, Tenn.; two sisters, Teresa Forbis and her husband, Steve, of Portland, Tenn., and Marcia Scruggs and her husband, John, of Westmoreland, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jerry and Debra Williams of Richland, Ind.
Funeral services are 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006, at Hillvue Heights Church, 3219 Nashville Road, Bowling Green, Ky., burial in Crestview Cemetery in Gallatin, Tenn. Visitation is 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3, 2006, and 9 a.m. to service time at Hillvue Heights Church.
