Donald "Carson" Pettijohn, 75, of Newburgh, Ind., passed away at 12:12 a.m. Thursday, April 7, 2016, at Deaconess VNA Hospice Care Center.
Carson was born April 10, 1940 in Carmi, Ill., and a graduate of Carmi High School. He retired from Alcoa after 39 years of service in mechanical maintenance. Carson was a member of Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer and previously was the president of the congregation of the former Shepherd of Paradise Lutheran Church in Newburgh. He enjoyed bowling, golf, gardening, woodworking and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Charlotte (Raney) Pettijohn; daughter, Lori Southard (Brian); sons, Donald Pettijohn, II (Julia) and Chris Pettijohn (Kathleen), all of Newburgh, Ind.; his mother, Julia (Browning) Pettijohn; sisters, Janice Ridenour (Darrell) and Rosemary Lambert (Curt); grandchildren, Whitney Eaton (Casey), Andrew Pettijohn, Gabby Pettijohn, Wesley Southard (Katie), Shelby Southard, Michael Rainwater and Luke Pettijohn; and great-grandchildren, Connor, Brooklyn and Saylor Eaton.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gene Pettijohn.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 11, 2016, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel - A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Ave., Evansville with Reverend Dr. Thomas Wenig officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Newburgh, Ind.
Friends may visit from 3 until 7 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 2016, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
