Reverend Floyd Anthony McKinney, 77, of Evansville, IN passed away on Monday July 28, 2014 at his home.
He was born September 20, 1936, to the late Frank and Vera McKinney in San Diego, California. He was also preceded in death by his twin brother Lloyd and sisters Marie, Marjorie and Willa Mae, brothers Frank and Leslie McKinney.
Floyd was educated in the San Diego School System. After graduation he served his country in the United States Air Force for four years. He later attained a Bachelor's Degree from San Diego State University. Floyd was employed at Pacific Bell at 25 years until his health forced him to retire.
On June 26, 1964, he married the love of his life, Glenda Williams McKinney. In 1996, Floyd and Glenda relocated to Evansville to be closer to family.
Reverend "K" as he was fondly called by his family loved the Lord and has ministered at many churches in San Diego and Evansville. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. He was a kind and gentle man loved and respected by all.
Floyd leaves to cherish fond memories, his loving wife Glenda and daughter Gloria Harvey (Terry) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, five grandchildren, nephews, nieces, brother and sisters-in-law, countless friends and a loving church family.
Floyd's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Southern Care Hospice and Dr. Kenneth Combs and staff.
A celebration of Floyd's life will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, August 1, 2014 with visitation beginning at 9:00AM, at New Hope Baptist Church, 663 S. Elliott, officiated by Reverend Rabon Turner. Burial at Sunset Memorial Park. Mason Brothers Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
