Frank Edward Counts Jr.

It is with sadness and regret the family of Frank Edward Counts, Jr. announce his passing on June 19, 2017, at the age of 70 years. Frank died peacefully in his home with his family by his side after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.

Frank was born on February 9, 1947, in Evansville and was the oldest of five children born to the late Frank E.Counts Sr. and Vera (Fridy) Counts. After attending Reitz Memorial High School, Frank enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and completed two combat tours in Vietnam from 1965 to 1968. After returning from Vietnam, he married Carole (Wright) Counts, and worked at Brandeis Machinery for 38 years followed, by 10 years at J. Trockman and Sons.

Frank was active with his family and in the community. For many years he spent his free time coaching his sons baseball for Thompkins Elementary School and was the Commissioner for the Evansville Junior Football League, where he was instrumental in obtaining the facilities that stand at Kleymeyer Park today. Later in life, Frank, with the help of his wife Carole, became involved in the Vanderburgh County 4H-Fair and was in charge of parking cars for nearly 20 years.

Frank is survived by his wife, Carole; sons, Ron (Melissa) and Brent Counts; grandchildren, Talon, Camdyn, Makenna, Kieran, and Carter Counts. Also surviving is his brother, Doug (Cindy) Counts; and sisters, Marilyn (Ken) Hufnagel, Lee Ann Lutz, Tracey (Mike) Baize; and nine nieces and nephews

Visitation will be at Sunset Memorial on Sunday, June 25, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m. and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, June 26, 2017, followed by a service in honor of Frank beginning at 11 a.m.
