Frank Eckart Obituary

Frank J. Eckart, 86, of Evansville, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at Deaconess Hospice Care Center.

He was born January 27, 1923. Frank was a United States Marine Corps Sergeant. He served in the Pacific during World War II. He was a graduate of Mackey High School and Evansville College. Frank retired from Whirlpool as Director of Manufacturing in 1983. He formerly was employed at International Harvester. Frank was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vanderburgh County. He was a member of St. Joseph Men's Club and St. Joseph Retirement Club. Frank was also a member of Whirlpool Management Club, Twin Towers, VFW Post 1114, and American Legion Funkhouser Post #8.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy (Jent) Eckart of Evansville; daughter, Jill (Eckart) Herrenbruck and her husband, David of Evansville; sons, Jack Eckart and his wife, Marlise of Newburgh, Ind, Jeff Eckart and his wife, Gina of Carmel, Ind; grandchildren, Brandon Herrenbruck and his wife, Mirandi of Franklin, Tenn, Chad Herrenbruck and his wife, Callie of Greenwood, Ind., Kaitlyn and Meghan Eckart of Newburgh, Ind., Hayden and Owen Eckart of Carmel, Ind.; great-grandchildren, Isaac, Ella and Schaefer Herrenbruck of Franklin, Tenn.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank J. Eckart Sr. and Caroline Eckart; and a brother, Charles Eckart.

Funeral mass will be held noon, Saturday, October 10, 2009, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., with Father Eugene Schroeder officiating. Entombment will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum where the Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites.

Friends may visit Saturday 10 a.m. until service time at Browning Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vanderburgh County, 6202 W. St. Joseph Rd., Evansville, IN, 47720 or Deaconess Hospice Care Center in memory of Frank, 600 Mary St. Evansville, IN 47747.
