Gary Beshears Obituary

Gary Wayne Beshears
Evansville, Indiana
Gary Wayne Beshears, age 71, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2015, at the
Deaconess VNA Plus Hospice on the Main Campus of Deaconess Hospital. He was born to Geneva (Nita) and the late Enfield Beshears on August 28, 1944.
He graduated from Memorial High School in 1962 and was employed by the Whirlpool Corp. During the Vietnam War, he joined the Air National Guard, in which he was a member for six years.
Gary took managerial training from Woolworth's and became an assistant manager at the St. Louis downtown location. Later he became manager of his own Woolco store in Amarillo, Texas. In the early 70's he returned to work for his father-in-law, Laddie Warren, printing genealogies. In Cincinnati he learned the art of bookbinding.
In 1980 Gary founded his own company, Evansville Bindery, Inc. It was the only Class-A library bindery in the Tri-State. He printed and bound books for genealogists
all over the United States, as well as for local authors. He donated over a thousand
books to Willard Library and Vincennes University. He rebound books for universities, school corporations, hospitals, city and county governments, and individuals, especially antique Bibles and books. He took pride in his work. If there was a mistake, he fixed it. In 2010 Gary sold the bindery and retired.
Gary married his wife Jeanette (Patton) Van Britson on December 26, 1988. They had a wonderful, loving relationship for twenty-seven years.
Gary was a life-long member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, where he ushered most Sundays. Every morning he would meet with his Newburgh coffee group. Even when he moved back to Evansville, he drove back to Newburgh to enjoy their company. Wherever he lived, he always had great neighbors and friends. He loved working in the yard in the spring and summer and taking cruises with his wife during the winters.
Former and present memberships include BBB, the Men's Club, the Knights of Columbus, SERTOMA, and the American Legion Pate Post. February 2, 1995, he was given the honor of Kentucky Colonel.
Gary is survived by his wife Jeanette, his mother Geneva Beshears of Evansville, his daughter Sherri Beshears-McNeely (Sam) of Indianapolis, his step-daughter Danielle (Van Britson) Dattilo (Jason) of LaGrange, KY, his brother Robert Beshears (Christy) of Evansville, his sister Barbara Hormuth (Tom) of Rockdale, TX, and his grandsons Hank McNeely, Jude and Dean Dattilo.
Visitation will be from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron, Evansville, In.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1301 S. Green River Rd, Evansville, IN 47715 with Fr. Gene Schroeder Officiating.

Gary was a wonderful blessing to our family and we are forever thankful that he was such a wonderful husband to Jeanette and stepdad to Danielle. He had such a great sense of humor that he was always a pleasure to be around. His struggle with cancer and the enduring pain is now gone and he can rest in peace knowing he lived his life to the fullest.

Bob, my sympathy to you and your family.
I will be out of town Wed thru Sat, therefore, I will not be able to attend visitation or mass, but the rosary that
I pray daily is always for some special intention. Wed. & Thurs. will be for
your brother Gary.
May God bless and keep all of the family
