She was born on April 13, 1935, to Kenneth and Esther Kebortz. Glenda was raised by her loving grandparents, Michael and Emma Belle Weiskopf, and cousin, Martha Dean Ours.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, including Minnie Spitzer, her sister, Norma Moore, and her brother, Kenneth Kebortz Jr.
On March 25, 1966, she married James Pike. Over the years, Glenda worked for Rex Cleaners, Airway and Dollar General. Most importantly, she was a wonderful homemaker.
Survivors include her husband of 42 years, James Pike; children, Valerie J. Saxton Richardson (Ronald) of Jasper, Alabama, William T. Saxton (Mary) of Newburgh, Indiana, Darrel J. Pike (LaDonna) of Chrisney, Indiana, Melinda G. Halbig (Brad) of Oceanside, California, and Christel A. Pike of Evansville, Indiana; grandchildren, Jordan, Cameron, Graham and Colin Richardson, Kristen and Jason Saxton, Kelsey, Edward, Darrel, and Sarah Baize, Evan Pike, Haley, Noah and Hope Halbig; great-grandchildren, Keyton and Addison Baize, Madison Hicks and Averi Pike; and her sisters, Jeanine Byrns and Lois Stucki.
The family would like to thank Drs. Ballou, Dean Smith, Bieker and Lamb, the staff at Heritage Center and Unit 5200 of Deaconess Hospital. The family also extends a special thank you to Dr. Sultan Niazi for his care and concern for Glenda.
A memorial service are Friday, January 2, 2009, at noon at Crossroads Christian Church. Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made on behalf of Glenda to the American Cancer Society, the Susan G. Komen Foundation, the American Lung Association or to the Hope Kitchen at First United Methodist Church, 1800 3rd Avenue, Jasper, Alabama 35504.
