Helen Jacot Obituary

OAKLAND CITY - Helen R. (Baker) Jacot, 81, of Lafayette, Ind., died at Regency Place on Monday, Feb. 5, 2007.

Born in Oakland City, Ind., on June 4, 1925, to the late Leo J. and Katherine Kleimann Baker, she has resided in Lafayette since 1949. She married Delbert E. Jacot on June 22, 1949, in Lafayette, and he survives.

Mrs. Jacot was a 1943 graduate of Elnora High School in Elnora, Ind. She was a 1947 graduate of Indiana School of Nursing and was a Registered Nurse with the State of Indiana, passing her State Boards in 1948. She was a nurse at Home Hospital from the 1950s to 1970. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree from St. Mary of the Woods College in 1977. She was a nursing instructor at Ivy Tech from 1970 to 1980 and director of nursing at White County Memorial Hospital in 1980.

She has been a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority since 1952. In 1956, she was awarded Delta Delta Girl of the Year for her sorority work.

Surviving with her husband are two sons, Terry L. Jacot of Frankfort and Gary L. Jacot of Lafayette; a sister, Micky and her husband, Dr. Max Lecklitner, of Lafayette; brother, Dr. William Baker, who is retired, and his wife, Gwen, of Bethesda, Maryland; sister-in-law, Delores Baker; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

An infant son and a brother, Ed Baker, preceded her in death.

Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007, at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Funeral services 1 p.m. Friday at the Hippensteel Funeral Home, with entombment in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Chaplain Colleen Barkdull officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Riley Hospital for Children.
