James K. "Ken" Sumrall

Evansville - James K. "Ken" Sumrall, 77, of Evansville, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2020 at his home. He was born September 14, 1943 in Jackson, Alabama to the late Howell I. and Audrey O. (Neal) Sumrall.

Ken worked for Sterling Boiler & Mechanical for 30 years where he retired as a Construction Superintendent. He had been a member of the Boilermakers 374 since 1968. Ken was a member of Vann Avenue Baptist Church.

Ken is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sandra J. Sumrall; children, Chris Sumrall, Lisa Sumrall, Craig Sumrall and Courtney Burke, all of Evansville, and Meghann (Zachary) Weinzapfel, of New Harmony; grandchildren, Tara Sumrall, Ella and Lainey Weinzapfel; brother, Howell D. (Debra) Sumrall; sister-in-law, Frieda Sumrall, of Evansville; sister, Grace E. (James) Toone, of Evansville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Howell I. and Audrey O. Sumrall and a brother, Robert N. Sumrall.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Thursday, October 1, 2020 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Avenue. Funeral services will begin at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959, the American Cancer Society, 318 Main St., Suite 219, Evansville, IN 47708, or the American Heart Association, 6500 Technology Center Dr., Ste. 100, Zionsville, IN 46077.

Ken was one of the finest men I’ve ever known! He was a pleasure to work with and always lending a helping hand to anyone that needed help! He was more of a brother to me than a friend! I will miss you James K. God bless!

prayers are with Kens family , Ken work long hours sometimes night &day ,So glad to have work along side ln boilermakers and stelingboiler ,Ken help me alot and was a brother in the Lord , God Bless the Family
