Jerry was born August 14, 1945, in Union County, Kentucky, to Charles and Evelyn (Stone) Blackburn. He was a conductor for CSX Railroad and a member of United Transportation Union Local No. 409 and retired in 1996 after 25 years. Jerry was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Evansville and the Order of the Owls. He loved to fish, his job and telling stories about the railroad.
He is survived by a daughter, Serena Blackburn-Gentry and her husband, David, of Clay, Ky.; stepdaughter, Jamie Bockman and her husband, Joe, of Evansville; son, Jerry Thomas Blackburn and his wife, Chasity, of Newburgh; stepson, Johnnie Scott and his wife, Kelley, of Evansville; brothers, Charles Blackburn and his wife, Ruby, of Blackford, Ky., and Roger Blackburn of Blackford, Ky.; 13 grandchildren, Jody, Ashley, Amber, Jimmy, Taylor, Shelby, Krystal, Jessica, Robert, Kyle, Lily, Cara and Taylor; and two great-grandchildren, Alexa and Madalyne.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Judith Mae (Powell) Blackburn, in 2008; a great-granddaughter, Madalynn Bockman; and a sister, Josie Mosley.
Funeral services 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2009, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel, 5330 Washington Ave., with the Rev. Ray Brown officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today, February 3, 2009, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.

I'm sad to hear about Jerry's passing. My thought and prayers go out to you, his children and family.
Jerry was a good man. He was a 'Good Man', a 'Big Man" with a 'Bigger Heart", I used to tell him! He was a Good Friend.If Jerry liked you, he was a loyal friend. He always went the extra mile.He saved my life, more than once, I will always be gratefull to him
