Lowell Bethe Obituary

Lowell Bethe

Elberfeld - Lowell L. Bethe, 87, of Elberfeld passed away on Thursday March 25, 2021. He was born January 23, 1934 to the late Ferdinand and Ethel Bethe.

Lowell served in the Army National Guard then started his career delivering Jiffy lifts all over the country for the Elberfeld Block Company. From there, he worked for Old Ben #1 as a coal miner for 25 years. In retirement, he spent more than 25 years at Lake Barkley with the love of his life, Mona—his wife of 66 years. He loved his family, and spent his time fishing, visiting his kids and grandkids, and playing cards with friends. When he was home in Elberfeld, you'd often find him woodworking in his pole barn.

He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Harvey, Alfred and Orvil Bethe, Ferdinand Bethe Jr., Josephine Butsch, Opal Barton, and Evelyn Butcher.

He is survived by his wife Mona Bethe; sons, Danny and Rick Bethe; grandchildren, Amanda Bethe, Grace Avery, Jason Bethe, Miles Bethe, Brandie Bethe-Claborn, Billy Bethe, Cody Bethe, Emma Bethe; sister, Wanda "Tudy" Bethe; and lots of nieces and nephews.

There will be a graveside service at 2PM Saturday March 27th at Zion UCC Cemetery, Elberfeld, IN.

Arrangements are in the care of Titzer Family Funeral Homes.
