Evansville
Mary G. (Mayer) Voelker, 84, of Evansville passed away Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Pine Haven Health and Rehabilitation Center. Mary was born on January 22, 1932 in Haubstadt, IN to the late Dennis and Mary (Loehr) Mayer.
She was a quilter and volunteered with the soup kitchen as a member of St. Anthony Parish for many years. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, playing bingo, bowling, listening and singing along to music. Dancing at the Owls Club was one of her favorite things to do.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Jerome (Poppy) Voelker, seven of her siblings and great grandson, Tucker Nelson.
She is survived by her children; Linda (Mark) Nelson of Boonville, Fred (Marsha) Voelker, Dennis (Diane) Voelker, and Bill (Cathy) Voelker all of Evansville, grandchildren; Mark (Jenna) Nelson, Misty (Larry) Minar, Melissa, Justin (Andrea), Chris (Marilyn) Voelker, Priscilla (Jason) Schmitt, Jamie Voelker, Kristina (Jason) Gansman, Corey (Katie), Erick, Zach, Cody, and Casey (Megan) Voelker. Fourteen great grandchildren, siblings; Andy (Anna) Mayer of Fort Branch and Betty Fischer of Evansville.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel, 626 North First Ave., Evansville, IN 47710, with a memorial service at 3:00 pm. Visitation will continue from 9:30 am until service time at the church on Wednesday, February, 3, 2016.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 704 North First Ave., Evansville, IN 47710. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, 2500 Mesker Park Dr., Evansville, IN 47720.
Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Parish, 704 North First Ave., Evansville, IN 47710.

Dear Dennis, Diane, and Family,
I extend my sympathy on the death of your Mom and Grandmother. I have fond memories of your Mom and always appreciated her thoughtfulness and concern about my friend Bertha Helen Moore (I believe they were Monday-evening card-playing buddies and both Ladies of Charity?). I can just imagine Mary up in heaven filling in Helen on everything that's happened since Helen went home to Jesus on Feb 4, 2013. May your wonderful memories bring you peace during this time.

Aunt Mary was a teacher to me. She taught me to sew, crochet, bake, get along with others and so much more. I watched her being a mom, a great mom, and learned a lot from that also. I miss all of you and think of all the good times we had playing cards, baking Christmas cookies, just playing around in general. I was blessed to have a woman like her in my life. You all have my deepest sympathy.
