Nancy Powers Hazlewood, age 78, of Newburgh, passed away at 9:32 am on Sunday, December 10, 2017, at Golden Living in Newburgh.
Nancy was born March 17, 1939, to the late Oran Powers and Ruth (Turner) Powers. She was born and raised in Evansville and graduated from Bosse High School in 1956. Nancy was the president several times for the Baptist Women's Missionary Union and was a member of the Daughters of American Revolution. She loved reading about the Civil war. Nancy also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Larry Hazlewood of Newburgh, IN; daughter, Rebecca Van Hooser, her husband, Patrick, and their children, John Austin and William, all of Lusby, MD.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, David Powers.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 am, Thursday, December 14, 2017, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel - A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville with Reverend Reggie Haire officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 3 pm until 7 pm, Wednesday, December 13, 2017 and 9 am until time of service at 10 am, Thursday, December 14, 2017, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel - A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Woman's Missionary Union (WMU) "Indiana WMU Touch Tomorrow Today" fund, 100 Missionary Ridge, Birmingham, Alabama 35242

We send our sincere sympathy to Larry and Nancy's family. We have fond memories of Nancy and David and their parents. They were neighbors to the Egberts. Also, David was in Marvin's class at Central and Nancy was Marvin's sister, Flora Bell's best friend. We have fond memories from so many years ago. May God's peace be with you at this most difficult time.
