Phillip L. Dawes

Evansville - Phillip L. Dawes, 72, of Evansville, Indiana passed away on Monday, October 14, 2019 at Parkview Care Center.

Phillip was born in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin on March 31, 1947 to the late Julius and Marian (Hanson) Dawes. He married Sandra Powell on December 21, 1968. Phillip received his Bachelors of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Illinois. He was a Registered Professional Engineer in the state of Indiana. He went on to work at Bristol Myers- Squibb for 35 years as a project engineer. Phillip was a FAA designated Flight Instructor for 30 years. He was part of the steering committee who were instrumental in purchasing Skylane Airport in 2000 for the Skylane Pilots Association. He was president of the association for 12 years. Phillip was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Order of the Arrow. He was active in the American Navion Society, the Midwest Navioneers, and the Pulse-Litestar Owner's Group. Phillip enjoyed flying planes, boating and computers but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family especially his granddaughter.

Phillip is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sandra (Powell) Dawes of Evansville, IN; his sons, Jeremy Dawes of Evansville, IN and Charles Dawes (Ana) of Noblesville, IN; a sister, Kathleen Williams (David) of The Villages, FL; granddaughter, Isabel Dawes; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Phillip was preceded in death by his parents; and a granddaughter, Emma Dawes.

A celebration of Phillip's life will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, October 18, 2019 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 with Pastor Steve Clayton officiating and burial to follow.

Friends may visit from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at Browning Funeral Home and again from 9:00 am until service time on Friday at the funeral home.
