Richard W. Morris, Sr.
Evansville, Indiana
Richard W. Morris, Sr., 86, of Evansville passed away Monday March 25, 2013 at Pine Haven Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Richard retired as Captain from the Evansville Police Department after serving 40 years. After retiring, he worked at Mechant's Alarm System and Tri-State Restoration Inc. and retired from security at University of Southern Indiana. He was a Veteran of WWII and the Korean War. He enlisted in the Navy, transferred to the Sea Bees and was discharged in 1946. He reenlisted in 1948 in the Marine Corps and was discharged in 1951. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, and former member of American Legion, VFW and FOP.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Elsie Morris and son, Derreck A. Morris.
He is survived by Saundra K. Morris and their children, Richard W. Morris Jr., and his wife Julie and Angela K. Will and her husband Bryan all of Evansville; also surviving son, Bryan L. Morris and his wife Kriss of Owensville, IN; daughter, Connie L. Waters and her husband Don of Boonville, IN; son, James L. Morris and his wife Sheila of CA; grandchildren, Mallorie and Nicholas Will, Adam Waters, Megan, Jessica, Sydney, Michael and Brett Morris, Elizabeth Morris-Roehl; great granddaughters, Ava Layne Bates, Hannah and Elijah Waters.
Visitation will be from 2:00 - 8:00 pm Wednesday March 27, 2013 at Ziemer Funeral Home North Chapel, 6300 N. First Ave., Evansville, IN 47710 with a memorial service at 5:00 pm. Visitation will continue from 10:00 - 10:30 am Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 6202 W. St. Joseph Rd., Evansville, IN 47720.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 am Thursday March 28, 2013 at the church with Fr. Ryan Hilderbrand officiating.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery where the Fraternal Order of Police and the Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct graveside services.
Memorial contributions may be made to Boy Scout Troop 327 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.

I too am a retired EPD officer and worked under Captain Morris. I knew Richard to be a fair officer with impecable integrety. I was fortunate to work under his command. He was certainly very respected by all ooficers that knew him. May you rest in peace Richard.
