Rick VanBibber Obituary

Rick VanBibber

Evansville, Ind.

Rick VanBibber was born in Evansville, Ind., to the late George and Mary VanBibber on June 25, 1953.

He is survived by his siblings, Ron (Pam), Janet (Ray), Terry (Jody), Roxanne (Mike) and Rodney (Lesyl); and by many nieces and nephews. Rick's partner of many years, Judy, and her family also meant so much to Rick. His companion, Beth, and her family added much pleasure to his life after they reconnected about a year ago.

Friends meant so much to Rick, and he treasured them. His cousin, Ed, was a very special friend to him. Beth made the comment several times that "Rick lived large." He enjoyed life and loved the outdoors, camping, fishing, boating and partying with friends.

Rick had the drive and determination to "reinvent" himself several times. In his younger years he followed in his dad's footsteps by learning the trades of floor covering and tile work, and he was very good at it. He could work on a car engine, do electrical and plumbing work, lay floors, install cabinets, and just about anything else. Later in life he took it upon himself to become a print/copier technician with companies such as OCE/Canon. Along the way he taught himself about computers, not just how to use them, but also how to build them. He was most recently a corporate service specialist in the I.T. Department at Vectren, where he loved his work and his associates. He also liked to cook!

Rick was a sensitive and gentle soul who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was always joking, even with the nurses in the hospital.

Rick passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of October 4, 2017, with loved ones at his side. He fought a great fight but it was his time.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 E. Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in Waverly, Ky.

Friends may visit from 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 6, 2017, at Browning Funeral Home and again from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home on Saturday.
