Robert Joe Elliott, 83, of Haubstadt, IN passed away at his home surrounded by family May 16, 2019 July 8, 1935. He was born in Patoka, IN to the late Clarence Wilshire Elliott and Martha Rovena Hunt. Robert graduated from Princeton High School in 1953. He attended Wabash College for his Associates degree and shortly after joined the Army in 1955. Robert married Nora Lee (Pegram) Elliott December of 1977. He worked as a Railroad Engineer for 34 years with L & N and CSX. Robert was a member of The American Legion, South Gibson Bow hunters Association, Local Chairman at United Transportation Union, and The National Wild Turkey Federation. He loved to do anything outdoors, especially bow hunting turkey and deer. Robert loved to mushroom hunt and teach his children and grandchildren about the outdoors and appreciating nature.
He is preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Martha Elliott.
Robert is survived by his wife Nora Lee Elliott; children Daniel Joe (Shannon) Elliott, LaDonna Courey, John W. (Denise) Dike, and Ronie (Melissa) Dike; grandchildren Andrew and Aidan Elliott, Asia and Lauren Tomich, John Michael (Whittni) Dike, Braden Dike, Ashley (Jeremy) Thompson, and Hannah Dike; great grandchildren Jayli Dike, Cody Thompson, Dillinger Thompson, Carter Lee and Kaylee Anne Dike; siblings Harold (Sue) Elliott and Sandra Sue Elliott.
Holder's Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Mr. Elliott. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Holders Funeral Home from 4p-8p. Funeral will be Monday at 10a. Interment will follow at Owensville Cemetery with Military rights.
