Sarah Bess Obituary
Evansville, Ind.
Sarah Weidemeyer Bess, 84, of Evansville, passed away July 3, 2013 at her residence. She was born on December 9, 1928 in Columbia, MO.
She taught accordion before earning a Master's Degree in piano pedagogy from the University of Louisville. She was, for many years, a piano teacher and owner of Piano Arts Studio in Evansville. Among her volunteer efforts she coordinated the United Way "Gifts in Kind." She directed choir and played piano at services for the Unitarian Universalist Church and at weddings and other events. She was active in local piano teachers' organizations. With her pupils, and in her social contacts, Sarah displayed extraordinary perceptiveness into one's personality and talents.
Burial services will be held at Park Lawn Cemetery at 11 a.m., Friday, August 23, 2013. Rev. Phil Hoy will officiate. Titzer Family Funeral Homes ~ Meyer Chapel is handling arrangements.

I've only known her for 1 1/2 years but in that time we shared really great conversations. She must have been an awesome teacher. She even taught how to direct a choir. That lesson will stay with me forever, along with the fond memories of this wonderful woman who I knew all too briefly.

Sarah was simply a good friend to Me. My daughter, however, despite her hectic schedule--was able to work in 1 piano lesson. In just 45 minutes--Sarah advanced her playing of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata from--a competent exercise... to... Music.

I met Sarah when I was just six years old she took me under her wing that halloween night my costume was torn and she took me inside and fixed it with tape. A friendship was born that night and for 50 years we remained friends, Sarah was truly one of my greatest gifts in life and will live forever more in my heart. rest in peace my dear dear friend.
