Tom Hilbert Obituary

Tom Hilbert
Henderson, Ky.
Tom Hilbert, 59, Henderson, passed away after an extensive battle with prostate cancer at 6:15 a.m. Thursday, February 25, 2016, at St. Anthony's Hospice Lucy Smith King Care Center surrounded by family and friends.
Tom was born on February 24, 1957, in Richmond, Indiana, but spent most of his adult life in the Evansville, Indiana, area where he worked primarily in media productions. He was an adoring husband, proud father, and beloved grandfather whose kindness and humor brought smiles to those who knew him. A lover of the outdoors, fishing, music, reading, and trivia, he was an adventurer and a true Renaissance man.
He is survived by his best friend and wife, Susan McVicar; three children, Heather Carroll, of Newburgh, and Dr. Erick Hilbert and his wife, Sara, and Stuart Hilbert and his wife, Annie, both of Noblesville, Indiana; two stepchildren, Joseph Emery and Anna Leigh McVicar, both of Henderson; his parents, Leslie and Joan Hilbert, of Bristol, Virginia, and Marilyn Sue and Howard Gongwer, of Richmond, Indiana; two brothers, Dan Hilbert and his wife, Linda, of Batesville, Indiana, and Joe Hilbert and his wife, Stephanie, of Richmond, Indiana; two sisters, Nancy Beaman and her husband, Pete, of Richmond, Indiana, and Emily Hilbert of Newburgh; and eight grandchildren.
Friends and family are welcome to gather in remembrance from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home, 604 Center Street, Henderson, Kentucky 42420.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Anthony's Hospice, 2410 South Green Street, Henderson, Kentucky 42420.

Your dad was so kind to me when I first moved back in to town. I really enjoyed working with him. He always made me laugh with his goofy jokes and stories. He was also quite the dancer! I know he loved you all so much and I know how much you will miss him. I hope you can find comfort in all of the happy memories that you have of him. We are sorry that we can't be with you tomorrow. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

We were so saddened to learn of Tom's passing. I was his 9th grade basketball coach at Pleasant View Jr. High in Richmond, IN. I enjoyed both coaching Tom on the basketball floor and teaching him in the classroom. He was a fine young man. Our condolences to his family.

The couple of times I had the honor to meet Tommy it was an honor. He was always much better behaved than the stories his sisters told about him!

To you all, he was a good man and he improved the lives of so many. For Emily, Cam, Meg, Stuart and all their crew, I know you will give him a glorious send off.

For everyone, keep him close in your memories and your heart.

Peace to you
