Virginia "Ginny" Simms
Evansville, IN — Virginia "Ginny" (Cartwright) Simms, 91, of Evansville passed away at 11:58 am, Sunday, May 15, 2011 at Angel River Health and Rehab.
Virginia was born April 16, 1920 in Evansville to William Farley and Bertha (Norwood) Cartwright and was preceded by her beloved of husband of 53 years, Leslie Tilford Simms, who passed away March 18, 1994. She graduated from Bosse High School in 1938 and was a secretary for EVSC. Virginia was active at Eastminster Presbyterian Church. She was a life-long avid bridge player and an excellent cook. Virginia travelled extensively with her family and grandchildren. She was a loving mother and grandmother and had many friends.
She is survived by her son, Leslie Thomas Simms (Maryse) and grandchildren, Francesca and Adriana Simms, all of Westmount, Quebec, Canada; nephews, Farley Cartwright (Lisa) and their children, Casie Quinn (Josh), Corrie Gann (Mike), Gabe Cartwright, Nick Wilke (Candice) and Travis Wilke (Lara) and David Cartwright (Tammy) and his son, Mark Cartwright; niece, Judy Shuster and children, Julie and Rob; sister-in-law, Nikomes Clayton; dear friends, Robin Capin (Steven) and their children, Calista and Kyle and dear friends in Montreal, GiGi Villaruel, Arnette Prosper and entire Lipari family.
The family would like to give a special thanks to her bridge club friends of over 50 years, and to all her friends at Hampton Court. A special thanks to St. Mary's and to Angel River Health and Rehab staff. Special thanks to Dr. Brian Laura and Dr. Edward Fox and Reverend Dr. Dennis Davenport and the Eastminster Presbyterian community.
She was preceded in death by her brother, William Cartwright and sister-in-law, Virginia Cartwright.
A Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held at 1:00 pm, Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 5501 Washington Avenue with Reverend Dr. Dennis Davenport officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 pm until 8 pm, Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Boone Funeral Home - East Chapel, 5330 Washington Avenue and from 12 pm until 1 pm, service time at Eastminster Presbyterian Church.

"Rejoice on that day and leap for joy!
For indeed your reward is great in heaven" Virginia was a wonderful neighbor. She loved the Lord and had much Grace after she knew of her cancer. I will truly miss her. My condolences to all the family. God Bless. Martha A. Todrank
