Delmar Green Obituary

Rev. Delmar Dean Green Jr., age 86, passed away peacefully Monday, October 20, 2025 surrounded by family. He was born December 3, 1938 in Milford Center, Ohio to the late Delmar Dean and Clarabelle K. (Thomas) Green Sr. Delmar was a United States Army Veteran serving during The Cuban Crisis. After his service to his country he started working at Whirlpool Corporation and served as Pastor at several churches for 35 years. Born with a strong spirit and tireless hands, Delmar devoted his life to his family, his faith, and the satisfaction of a job well done. Known for his humble wisdom and unshakable work ethic, he was a man who believed in teaching by example. Whether under the hood of a car, wiring a house, or digging a pond on his land, he lived by the principle that hard work was not just a task, but a way of life. A skilled tradesman with a deep knowledge of plumbing, electrical work, and automotive repair, Delmar passed down his knowledge to his children with quiet patience and pride. His lessons extended far beyond tools and technique-they were lessons in perseverance, integrity, and self-reliance. Delmar found peace and joy in the simple beauty of nature. He loved gardening, nurturing flowers that brought color to the world around him, and shaping his property with ponds he proudly dug himself. His land was not just a place-it was a reflection of his care, effort, and connection to the world God created. Above all, Delmar was a man of faith. As a reverend, he served not just from the pulpit, but through the everyday example of how he lived. His faith was steady, humble, and enduring-touching the lives of those around him in ways both seen and unseen. Delmar is survived by his wife, Roberta Ann (Phillips) Green; they were married April 16, 1966 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiffin, Ohio. They shared 59 wonderful years together. Also survived by their children, Kathy (Brian) Lovell of Marion, Oh., Thomas Green of Marion, Oh., Michael (Elizabeth) Green of Marion, Oh., grandchildren, Aaron Lovell, Andrew Lovell, Adam (Harley) Green, Megan Green, Nichole Green, Arabelle (Paul) Hord, Alison Green, Aryanna Green, Alexandria Green, Allena Green, James Tandy, Amaiyah Wright, Jessica Delacruz, 10 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, his siblings, Jerry (Jeannie) Green of Prospect, Oh., Sharon (Barry) Ferrin of Marion, Oh., Donald (Kathy) Green of Marion, Oh., and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Delmar and Clarabelle Green Sr., his brother, Harry Green and his sister, Roslyn Thomas. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, compassion, and quiet devotion-gifts that will continue to grow in the lives of all who knew and loved him. Graveside Services will be held Monday, October 27, 2025 at 11:00 am @ Marion Cemetery with Military Honors by Marion County United Veterans Council and services conducted by Pastor Michael Green.
