Diana Welty Obituary
Diana Welty left us too soon at the age of 77 to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 20, 2025. She passed from complications of a motor vehicle incident. She lived independently at 60 Newmarket Dr. in Delaware, OH, where she could be close to her beloved family.
Diana was born in Munich, Germany, on July 13, 1948, to James and Hilda Delong. She grew up in Marion, Ohio, where she met her first husband, Frank Arnold. During her marriage, she became a mother of two children, David and Joy. Her children and family would be the main focus of her life.
Frank and Diana divorced in 1990, after which Diana went back to school to pursue nursing. She began a lifelong journey of taking care of others and bringing joy to those in need.
Diana attended the Nazarene church in Delaware, Ohio, where she made plenty of friends and put all of her faith in God.
In 2004, Diana met a new love of her life, Marvin Welty. In 2006, Diana became Mrs. Welty and was happily married to Marvin until he passed in 2022 in her loving care.
Diana loved Christ and spending time with her family. She loved getting out to grab a bite at fast food joints. She really loved her pop; her favorite was Coke. She looked forward to getting her senior pop every day so she could get out of the house.
She truly loved helping others, so she volunteered over the years at her church – Newstart Church in Delaware – and at Source Point for the last several years, where she helped in their café.
Her family and friends were most important to her. She enjoyed her long calls with her daughter, Joy, and coming over to her son David's house to watch the OSU football games with him, just anything that connected her with her family. She loved Scrabble, listening to the radio, and sitting on the patio. Her favorite was what she called the soup place (Panera) where her granddaughter Elliott would always take her to get broccoli cheddar soup and her favorite chocolate chip cookies. She loved animals and was always wanting to go to the zoo even when she would get tired easily from all of the walking. She was strong-willed. She did what she loved and fought for who she loved unconditionally.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Doug and Hilda Delong, and her husband, Marvin Welty.
She is survived by her son, David (Brittany) Arnold, her daughter Joy (Travis) Fordham, her brother Curtis (Monica) Delong, and her grandchildren Liam Fordham, Graham (Ava) Fordham, Emma Fordham, Holden Arnold, and Elliott Arnold.
