Edward Marvin Treft, 84, of Attica Ohio passed away unexpectedly on Friday January 3, 2025, following a brief illness. Edward was born January 8, 1940, in Findlay, Ohio to the late Millard and Ruth (Riley) Treft. He was married to Dorothy (Patrick) Treft who survives. Edward is also survived by his former wife Ruth Bayless; his children who he loved deeply, daughters Teresa (Terry) Loubert and Vanessa Treft; sons Ed (Louise) Treft, Larry (Angie) Treft, Ty (Danielle) Treft, James and Rhiana Cottingham and Bobbie Kaiser Ziegler; brother Max Treft; 35 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by sisters Marilyn Craig, Norma Hohman, Vicky Sue Averill; brothers Bob, John, and Jim Treft; and grandson Dusty Berger.
Edward began his work career at a young age helping with his father’s business, Treft Construction Company. He moved on to semi-truck driving for Daugherty, Miller, Matlack, Sunrise and Signal truck companies. Driving was his passion and had over one million miles of safe driving. He would always tell his wife, “I have more miles in reverse than you do going forwards”. Always willing to lend a hand, he volunteered during natural disasters as well as with New Hope Food Pantry. Edward previously served as an Attica village councilman.
The family will receive friends at the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home, 215 N. Walnut St., Bucyrus on Thursday from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. Additional calling hours will be held on Friday at the Fritz Church of God, KY-378 Salyersville, Kentucky on Friday from 8:00 am until 10:00 am. Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 10:00 am in the Church of God with Rev. Dallas Patrick officiating and burial to follow in the Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made through the funeral home.
