John Gregory Lyons, 69 of Sycamore, OH passed away on Sunday July 14, 2024 at home. John was born October 25, 1954 in Alexandria, Louisiana to the late Robert D. and Barbara (Johns) Lyons.
John is survived by children Emily Ann Dodson of Ravenna, OH and Drew Deems of PA; grandchildren Stella Gwyneth Dodson and Margot Vera Dodson; Brothers Dennis K. Lyons of Sycamore and Michael L. (Mary) Lyons of Galion; nieces and nephews Nathan Seibert, Lia Seibert, and Megan Lyons; as well as aunts, cousins, and many good friends.
John graduated from Wynford High School in 1972 and attended O.S.U., North Central College and received a teaching degree. He farmed and was a substitute teacher for many years in Crawford, Richland, Seneca, and Wyandot County Schools.
John was a member of the Bucyrus Methodist Church where he was active in the choir, the Praise Team, Men’s Bible Study, the annual Christmas Plays portraying Jesus, and serving as a District Lay Leader for the Eastern Conference at Lakeside. John also took part in Little Theatre Productions and was a member of the Fathers and Children for Equal Rights.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday July 23, 2024 at 11:00 am in the Bucyrus Methodist Church with Rev. Becky Stephens officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 am until the time of the service. The family suggests memorials be in the form of contributions to the Bucyrus Methodist Church and expressions of sympathy can be left at www.munzpirnstill.com
