Joyce Thompson Obituary

Hicksville - Joyce E. Thompson, 90, of Hicksville, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Vancrest of Hicksville.

She was born June 3, 1931, in Garden City, Michigan, daughter of the late Thomas B. and Nellie (Marshall) Oliverson. Joyce was a 1949 graduate of Harvey H. Lowrey High School in Dearborn, Michigan. She married Charles W. Thompson on September 2, 1950, in Dearborn, Michigan, and he preceded her in death on December 4, 1994. Joyce worked as an assembler at Air-Way Manufacturing in Edgerton, retiring in 2006. She also previously worked at The Trident Company and Syncro. She was a member of Hicksville Eagles Aerie 2556 and Antwerp VFW Post 5087 Ladies Auxiliary. In her younger years she enjoyed bowling and dancing. In her later years she enjoyed attending craft shows, gardening, playing cards and spending time with her family and friends.

Joyce is survived by her son, Wayne Thompson of Hicksville, Ohio, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and one sister, Beverly Chamberlain of West Branch, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles, two daughters, Elaine Wann and Beverly Jones, one son, Timothy Thompson, and two brothers, Jim Oliverson and Ken Oliverson.

Visitation for Joyce E. Thompson will be held Friday, January 7, 2022, from 10 a.m.-noon at Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 N. Main St., Hicksville. Funeral services for Joyce will immediately follow in the funeral home, beginning at noon with Father Daniel Borgelt officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville.

Memorial contributions can be directed to the Crippled Children & Adult Society, 309 Wendell Ave., Hicksville, OH 43526.
