Harold Holler Obituary

Harold "Wayne" Holler, 84, passed away on July 11, 2025, in Defuniak Springs, Florida. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and veteran.

Born on November 18, 1940, in Jamestown, Pennsylvania, Wayne was the son of Sarah Fry and Harold L. Holler. A proud native of Pennsylvania, he met the love of his life, Sharon Irene Miller, while they were both working at Veg-Acres picking beans. They were married on September 24, 1960, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Greenville.

Wayne dedicated two decades of his life to serving his country in the United States Army. Rising to the rank of Master Sergeant (E-8), he served with distinction and honor. His military career took him to Korea and with his family across the United States and Europe. Throughout his service, Wayne was recognized with numerous commendations including the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal.

Following his retirement from the Army after 20 years of honorable service, Wayne pursued business studies at Penn State University.

Wayne loved to hunt and fish-pastimes that brought him peace and joy throughout his life. He also had a passion for travel which he shared with Sharon until her passing in 2011. Their adventures together remain cherished memories for those who knew them.

Wayne is survived by a large and loving family who carry forward his legacy: his daughter Kelly Thurman (husband Robert) children Matthew Goda (wife Susan), Jeff Goda (wife Sandra), Brett Goda (wife Arianna), Stacy Opalewski (husband Scott), and Brian Thurman (wife Melissa); son Wayne Holler (wife Ashlie) children Savannah, Owen, Justin, April, Jessica, Chris (wife Molly); son Greg Holler (partner Jeff Wood); adopted daughter Michelle Foglia; as well as 23 great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his sisters Mary Jane Knight and Marian Dillion (husband Tom), brother Daniel Holler, and sister-in-law Carol Holler.

Wayne was preceded in death by his beloved wife Sharon Irene Miller; parents Sarah Fry and Harold L. Holler; son Michael Holler; and brothers Leon Holler and Sam Holler; step-granddaughter Ashley (Barnosky) Bradley

A celebration of life will coincide with the interment of his ashes at Crestlawn Memorial Cemetery in Dothan AL. Harold Wayne Holler
