James McLean Obituary

James Fulton McLean, of Orlando, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013. He was 76 years young.

He was born in Springfield on Jan. 17, 1937 to Lloyd G. and Anna Belle McLean.

He was one of four siblings. He graduated from Crestview High School and joined the United States Marine Corps.

He met and married Dalhia Ann Day and had three children, James Michael, Tammy Lynn, and Mary Rebecca, who held a special bond with their father.

His brothers, Lloyd John McLean and Billy Jack McLean, and his sister, Elizabeth Laray Mansfield, also survive him.

His grandchildren, Brian (Barbara) Booker, Brandon Booker, Brenton Booker, Breann (Brad) Argo, Rebecca Ashley Sears and James Sears; and his great-grandchildren, Anna Booker, Maddox Booker and Sabastian Booker, also survive him. Numerous nieces and nephews who were very dear to James' heart also survive him.

He also leaves his beloved cat Zuesee.

He served with distinction as a Marine for 20-plus years, which included service in the Vietnam War. He enlisted in his beloved Marine Corps and rose to the rank of captain. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Marines never left him, as friends and family will attest. He was always a Marine.

After exiting the Marine Corps, James joined the Orange County Sheriff's Department, served with distinction for more than 20 years, and retired. He said serving as a law enforcement officer was a great accomplishment in his life.

He was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church of Orlando.

He served God, country, family and community during his lifetime.

Memorial services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Chapel Hill Baptist Church, 8826 Trevarthon Road, Orlando.

In lieu of flowers, the family graciously requests contributions be made, in memory of James, to the MD Anderson Cancer Center, 1400 S. Orange Ave., FL 32806.
