Agnes Lucas Obituary
1931 - 2023
Agnes "Sam" Seney Lucas, 92, passed away on November 28th, 2023, a longtime resident of Bridgeport, CT as well as Montauk, NY and Ft. Lauderdale, FL in her later years. Born in Bronxville, NY on June 6, 1931, Agnes was the daughter of Raymond and Mary (Costanza) Seney.
For many years, Agnes was a beloved and respected Recreational Therapist for Golden Heights Nursing Home in Bridgeport. An avid golfer and off-season bowler, "Sam", with good humor, would refuse to wish an opponent good luck. "Why would I wish for them to beat me?" Well versed in all classics along with historical references gleaned through membership with The Button Club of Connecticut, she'd sweep you off the jeopardy board. She was a self -taught, gifted artist and never failed to lift our sprits with her age-appropriate jokes. Agnes volunteered at Bridgeport's public schools reading to the children through a public literacy program and remained with them throughout the school year decorating Easter eggs, Hanukkah and Christmas ornaments. She collected friends, too many to count, injured birds and fed the crows in between. When asked if she had any allergies, she would reply, "unkindness". Magnetic, brilliant, engaging, funny, pretty, and oh so talented, she will be missed.
Agnes was predeceased by her parents, beloved husband, Gustave Lucas, and several siblings. She is survived by her sisters, Anna May Yon (Leroy), Elizabeth Cocciardi and Rita Marks along with her loved children, Christine Bogetti (Peter), Susan Plastini (Alfred Marsicano), John Plastini (Marian), Anthony Plastini (Edwige), and F. Robert Plastini (Ana Maria). She also leaves her beautiful grandchildren, Michael Plastini (Trisha), Johnny Plastini (Christina Skrovanek), Margaux Bogetti (Greg Dunham), and Melanie Plastini, her two sweet great-grandchildren, Vera and Liliana with a Third on her way as well as many nieces and nephews.
Rest easy, Mommy, we will see you in our dreams.
A Celebration Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, June 6th, 2024, her Birthday, at 11 a.m., St. Andrew Church, 395 Anton Street, Bridgeport, CT. Burial is Private. Memorial Donations in Agnes's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital stjude.org
