Alexander Kozma Obituary

KOZMA Alexander Stephen Kozma, age 91, of Fairfield, devoted husband of Elizabeth Varjas Kozma, died peacefully on Tuesday, April 22, 2003. Born in Jersey City, N.J., Mr. Kozma was a Bridgeport resident for most of his life. He was a World War II Naval veteran and was present at the signing of the surrender of Japan. Mr. Kozma had retired from the Bridgeport Metal Goods Co., where he had worked for over 40 years, working his way up from shipping room clerk to employment manager. Active in the Masons and the Calvin United Church of Christ, where he had been secretary of the church for eight years. Al loved his golf and scored his first hole-in-one at the age of 87. In addition to his wife of 65 years, Betty, Mr. Kozma is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Patricia Kozma, a step grandson Jeffrey Miller, a sister Mary Molnar, his grandson Bram Kozma and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:15 a.m. in the Frank Polke and Son Funeral Home, 1546 Fairfield Avenue, Bridgeport, and at 11 a.m. in the Calvin United Church of Christ, 901 Kings Highway, Fairfield. Burial to follow in Lawncroft Cemetery with full military honors. Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the United Home Hospice, 40 Lindeman Drive, Trumbull, CT 06611 or to the Calvin United Church of Christ
