Alexander Samor Obituary

Alexander W. Samor
Samor, Alexander Walter Samor, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2024. Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on August 27, 1939, Al was the son of late Alexander W. Samorajczyk and Casmira Ochman Samorajczyk. He was also predeceased by his brothers Ronald and Walter (Coke) Samorajczyk, and his beloved uncles, Jack and Walter Ochman. A longtime resident of Connecticut, Al retired to Wilder, Vermont in 2005. He was a graduate of Fairfield College Preparatory School, class of 1957; Fairfield University, summa cum laude, class of 1961; and the University of Connecticut School of Law, where he graduated in 1964 with the highest honors. He was admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Connecticut Federal District Court. After being admitted to practice, Al served as law clerk to the Honorable Justice Howard W. Alcorn of the Connecticut Supreme Court. Al was a founding partner of Kleban & Samor law firm in Southport, Connecticut, where he chaired the firm's corporate and business practice group, specializing in corporate, commercial, and securities matters. He was co-author of the New York State Bar Association's "Corporate Practice Handbook" on topics relating to incorporation, and a frequent contributor to legal and business periodicals on corporate matters. Al was also past chairman of the Polish Heritage Society and active in other conservation organizations, including serving as legal counsel, director, and president of the Connecticut Waterfowl Association. An avid outdoorsman, Al spent much of his free time fishing and hunting with his son David, his dogs, Tori, Sam, and later Kelly and Winnie, and his close friends. As a boy, he spent his days hunting, fishing, foraging mushrooms, and clamming with his father, brothers, uncles, and cousins. He fulfilled his life dream of hunting and fishing in British Columbia, the Yukon Territories, and throughout the country. Al was also an avid golfer and sportsman and loved to travel. He was a member of both Mill River Country Club and Hanover Country Club, and he was fortunate to play some of Ireland and Scotland's most beautiful courses. Al also played baseball and softball throughout the years, and in his youth was a member of several of Connecticut's championship teams. Al is survived by his three children, Jennifer Rhind (David), Laura Molnar (Paul), and David (Ashley), and his eight grandchildren: Ben, Matt, Alex, Jenna, Lauren, Chris, Remmi, and Cazi. It brought him great comfort to spend his last years with his family in Connecticut. Friends may call on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home, 2220 Main Street in Stratford, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mark's Catholic Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford, on Friday, October 11, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
