Amilcar John Adao "John" was called to Heaven on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at the age of 85 with his family by his side. Born in Ludlow, MA on July 10, 1937, he was the son of the late Amilcar Jesus Adao and Sara Pinheiro Adao. John was a loving father, son, brother, and uncle. He was a man of many talents and involved in many activities. He was Vice President of Centro Medico Nationale, renal care units in Portugal; Director of City of Bridgeport Acute and Chronic Geriatric Care, Hospital Business; Coordinator at the Dinan Memorial Center; St. Vincent's Hospital as an LPN; Owner of the Four Seasons Hair Salon; Bridgeport Paving Company, President; Morris Knewston & U.S. Steel, Safety Engineer in Lisbon, Portugal and Vice President of the Portuguese Relief Campaign, collecting medical supplies, raising funds for food and clothing for refugees and distressed people in Portugal. John also served as President, Board of Directors at the Vasco Da Gama Club in Bridgeport. He had many affiliations, appointments, and honors. To name a few honors: Humanitarian Award from the Bridgeport Democratic Club, Certificate of Award for Outstanding Service from Bull's Head Hallow Association of Bridgeport, Profiles & Courage Award, State of Connecticut, Judeo-Christian Women Organization, and many more.
He leaves behind his cherished son, John H. Adao of Portugal, his nephew, Mickey Nowak (Maureen) of Monson, MA, his great-nephews; Gary Evangelista (Amber) of Aventura, FL and Spike Nowak of Washington DC, his great-niece, Sara Evangelista of San Diego, CA and several cousins. He was always willing to help anyone in need and was a good friend to those who knew them.
Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Monday, July 25, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. DIRECTLY in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 429 Huntington Rd., Bridgeport with a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. Friends may call on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Parente-Lauro Funeral Home, 559 Washington Ave., Bridgeport.
