Andrew Koehm Obituary

KOEHM Andrew Paul Koehm, Sr., 91, beloved husband of Mary Sedensky Koehm for 55 years, passed away in St. Vincent's Hospital surrounded by family members. Born in Bridgeport, Andrew was the youngest child of George H. Koehm, Sr. and Constance V. Koehm. A licensed professional engineer and a life member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, he worked at Remington Arms as a tool and die maker until World War II when he enlisted and served in the U.S. Air Force. Subsequently, he received a B.S. M.E. degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and an M.S.M.E. degree from the University of Bridgeport. The originator of a number of patents, most of his professional career was spent at the Norden Division of United Technology and at the United Nuclear Corporation. Andrew's lifelong interests in American history and world geography were enhanced by his extensive knowledge of philately and he spent over a decade as a volunteer appraiser for the American Philatelic Society. A member of the Bridgeport Stamp Club and the Nutmeg Stamp Club, he was also a life member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, in which he held office during college. For a number of years, he held membership in the Fairfield County Society of Mechanical Engineers and during his sons' elementary school years was an assistant Scout Master and a merit badge counselor for Troop 168 of the Boy Scouts of America. A devout Catholic, he was a communicant of St. Theresa Church, Trumbull for 55 years as well as a third degree member of Park City Council, number 16, Knights of Columbus. Predeceased by his parents, his brother George H. Koehm, Jr. and by his three sisters, Marie Rose Koehm, Constance Halkovic and Margaret Brennan, Andrew is survived, in addition to his wife by his children, Andrew P. Koehm, Jr., his wife Eva and their children Daniel and Diana, of Brookfield, Ct.; Christopher J. Koehm and his wife Adele, of Trumbull; Jonathan S. Koehm, Esq. of Trumbull, Ct.; and Margaret M. Koehm, M.D., of Nantucket, Ma. Other survivors include a brother-in-law, Dr. John B. Sedensky (Rep. N.H. Legislature, R.) and his wife Beverly, of Hampstead, N.H. and his sister-in-law Jeanne R. Sedensky, of Trumbull, and nine nephews and nine nieces. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9:15 a.m. at the Cyril F. Mullins Trumbull Funeral 399 White Plains Rd. and at 10:00 a.m. at St. Theresa Church 5301 Main Street Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment in St. Michael's Cemetery with full military honors. Dear Jonathan and the Koehm Family,
