Antonio D. Barreira, age, 83, beloved husband of Teresa D. Barreira, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at St. Vincent's Medical Center with his loving family by his side. Born in Arcos De Valvedez, Portugal on October 2, 1940, he was a son of the late Joaquim Rodrigues Barreira and Lucinda Cerqueira Dantas and was a longtime resident of Trumbull. Antonio was a union carpenter with Local 210 for over 50 years and at his retirement he was employed with Epifano Builders Inc. His passion was soccer and was an avid fan of Sporting Lisbon. He enjoyed gardening and sharing the fruits of his labor family and friends but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his beloved wife Teresa of 55 years, survivors include his three loving children, Jose Barreira and his wife Farah, Regina Barreira and Mark Barreira, two sisters, Estefania Dantas and Aurora Pedreira, a sister-in-law, Maria Esteves and her husband Armindo and two cherished grandchildren, Anthony Joshua Barreira and Brianna Ashley Barreira as well as many nieces and nephews in Connecticut, New Jersey, Long Island and Canada. He was predeceased by a brother, Alfredo Barreira.
All are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. directly in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 429 Huntington Rd., Bridgeport. Entombment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
