Arline Brady Obituary

Arline Brady
Arline Brady died peacefully on Friday, April 21, 2023, at the Lutheran Home of Southbury. She was born on June 14, 1929, the daughter of the late James and Alice (Diller) German. A 1947 graduate of Derby High School, she was the recipient of the DAR Good Citizen Award. She received her BSN from St. Joseph College and worked for many years as a nurse at Griffin Hospital. In 1952, she married John (Jack) Brady, and she was the silent partner behind her celebrated husband. She ran the house that enabled him to do all he did for the community until his death in 2014.
She is survived by her sister, Doris (Bob) Worrell, her children, Maureen (Chris) Moran, Ellen Witek, John (Anne) Brady, Jim (Donna Tine), Tom (Kim) and George, her grandchildren, Liz and Grace Moran, Anja, Elise (Katlyn Wheeler), and Allie Witek, John (Franklin Raines), Carol (Laura Lane-Steele), Margaret (Matt) Wilson, Emily (Joe) Langlais, Ian, Tim, Ryan, and Sean, and six great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the Women's College Club, an inaugural member of the Naugatuck Valley Health District Board of Directors, and a parishioner of the Church of the Assumption. She was active in the parish's Pre-Cana program and the Assumption School Home-School Association.
She was an expert at Wheel of Fortune and an avid fan of the UConn Huskies as well as any professional basketball team on which a former Huskie played. She and Jack traveled widely, visiting their children and grandchildren in the US and Europe, and touring National Parks, Bermuda, the Caribbean, Panama, Israel, and Ireland.
The family thanks Sharon Lawlor for her devoted care for many years and the staff of the Lutheran Home of Southbury that provided compassionate nursing care as she completed her journey here on earth.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 5th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Bennett Funeral Home, 91 N Cliff St., Ansonia, and the funeral procession will be held Saturday at 9:40 a.m. from the funeral home to the Church of the Assumption for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt St Peters Cemetery Derby, CT
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Griffin Hospital Developmental Fund in care of the Funeral Home.
