Barbara Ruth Gomperts, age 84, of Southport, beloved wife of George Gomperts, passed away peacefully Friday, June 14, 2024, with her family by her side. Barbara was born November 24, 1939, in Catron, Missouri, daughter of the late Homer Jules Clark and Nannie Ruth Gattis and was a lifetime area resident. Survivors, in addition to her husband, include her three devoted children, Lisa Paige Gomperts of Decatur, GA, Tracy Lynn (Joseph) Siciliano also of Decatur, GA and Eric John (Pink) Gomperts of Chiang Rai, Thailand; two grandchildren Jackson Siciliano and Sonny Gomperts; one brother Joseph Tripodi and nephew Ryan Tripodi. Friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Sunday, June 23, 2024 at 2:30 p.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford, CT 06615. Friends may visit with her family before service time from 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. All other services will be private. Donations in Barbara's memory may be made to operationhopect.org. George, I am so sorry for your loss. I only met Barbara once back in the 70's while we were both working for Paul Coletti, but I still remember what a cordial and nice person she was. May she rest in peace.

My sincere condolences to Barbara's husband, daughters, son, grandsons, and family and friends. I spent a lot of time talking to Barbara on Thursday and she told me over and over how "It's been a great life." She told me all about her family and adventures they went on to Europe, and how proud she is of her children and grandsons. She told me how special both of her grandsons are to her and said "they're both going to set the world on fire," in a good way of course! I only knew Barbara for a very short time but I can tell how amazing of a woman, mother, grandmother, and wife she was. I kept telling her that she was so very strong & that I really admired her. May she rest in peace and be your family's guardian angel. My prayers are with you all.
