Betty Loop Obituary

LOOP Betty E. Loop, 90, of 553 Highland Ave., Stratford Ct., died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011, at the Bridgeport Hospital. Born August 10, 1921 in Lewisburg, Pa., she was the daughter of Roland and Anna Scheesley. She was a graduate of Williamsport High, Williamsport Pa, class of 1939. Betty lived in Williamsport, where she married and had two children, until 1956. Betty moved to Stratford in 1956 with husband Damon and her two children, Terry and Stacey. In addition to being a housewife and loving mother, Betty worked for many years at Northeast Utilities, where she would retire. A passionate Contract Bridge player for over 50 years, Betty was well-known and admired in the Bridge world of Southern Connecticut and was ranked 38th among Connecticut bridge players, based on accumulated Master Points (3811.42, according to the Connecticut Bridge Association, July 2011). A great lover of books, Betty was a benefactor of the Stratford Library Association. Betty is survived by son Terry of Los Angeles, Ca, daughter Stacey of Redwood City, Ca, grandson Alex and granddaughters Chelsea and Shelby. Betty was predeceased by her husband, Damon Rex Loop. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Williamsport, Pa. Commemorative services will be in the Stratford area at a date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Stratford Library Association, Stratford, Ct.
