Bryan Smith Obituary

Bryan Christopher Smith
January 1, 1975 – October 1, 2022
During the early morning hours of October 1, the illness and addiction that had stolen Bryan's will to live took his life. His friends and family will remember him for the funny, smart, impulsive and kind person that he was. Bryan was born in Bellevue, Nebraska on the Offutt Air Force Base. His early childhood was spent in Arizona, but he lived in Connecticut for the past 34 years, calling Milford his home for most of his life.
Bryan graduated from Jonathan Law High School in Milford in 1993 where he was a goalie for the soccer team. He was a journeyman sheet metal mechanic and worked for a number of sheet metal and HVAC companies throughout the state. He enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with his children and friends. He was an avid Washington NFL team and Boston Red Sox fan.
Bryan is predeceased by his mother Virginia Aguirre and his maternal and paternal grandparents. He leaves behind his father, Roger Smith and stepmother, Nancy Anderson-Smith; the loves of his life, his children, Marisa Haley and Noah Christopher and his ex-wife, Heather Laporte. He also leaves two incredibly supportive aunts, Barbara Gosse (Jerry) and Marilyn Olson; as well as has cousins, Deidre Bergner (Patrick), Jennifer Guitierez (Omar), Jim Pearson (Mary), Larry Pearson, Shannon Eraca (Kevin) and Jennifer Rosario (Timothy) and numerous friends.
We are deeply grateful for Bryan's friends who stuck by him through his lifelong struggle with addiction and who continue to provide comfort to us.
A Memorial Service is planned for October 15, 2022 at 4:30 p.m. at the Connecticut Audubon Society Coastal Center at Milford Point. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made in Bryan's name to Wings of Freedom Animal Rescue, Griswold, CT, Beth-El Center in Milford, or a charity of your choice. Prayers to the family during this difficult time. Addiction is a horrible disease that takes the lives of many wonderful people. Hold on to all the good memories that show his true self. The lord has him now keeping him safe from the addiction that haunted his life. He will find peace with the lord and will be watching over you sending his love.

Roger, I'm so sorry for your loss. My wife and I are both being treated for cancer. My brother called to tell me about your son's passing.
