Burt Hoffman Obituary
Burt Merrill Hoffman, age 76, passed away on Friday, June 8, 2018. Born June 2, 1942, in Newark, New Jersey, the son of Nathan and Myra Hoffman. Burt spent most of his adult life in Stamford, Connecticut as a practicing attorney for 45 years. He was an admired coach to local youth and a volunteer to multiple organizations.
His wife, Judy, survives him. Burt also leaves behind his sons Mitchell and his wife Erin, Marc, Jonathan and his wife Lindsay; grandchildren Maddox, Jack, Brody, Cole, and Madelyn.
Burt lived for his family and derived great satisfaction from their accomplishments. He was generous in his approach to life and selfless in the way he treated people -- giving hope to many.
A lover of all things Tar Heels, Burt was a passionate baseball fan -- especially the Brooklyn Dodgers; as well, he held a black belt in Karate, was an avid reader and a regular problem solver. He will be remembered most as a confidant and support mechanism for people from all walks of life, demonstrating an uncanny ability to reach others in a deep and positive way.
In lieu of flowers, the Hoffman family asks donations be made in Burt's honor to Sports Buddies of New Canaan or a charity of one's choice. Additional information for the Sports Buddies can be found at www.starct.org/sports-buddies-new-canaan.
Memorial Services will be held Sunday, June 24, 2018 from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. at the Stamford Jewish Community Center, 1036 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT.

Mr Hoffman had a fabulous reputation as a lawyer when I worked at a local law office in the 70's. His work was impeccable. My condolences to the family, I remember his name well, may he rest in peace.

Judy and family. Our sincerest condolences on the loss of Burt. I just saw this notice. Of course you and I go way back, and I knew Burt from UNC in the early 60's. A good guy, we shared a lot of fraternity brother friends. We re-connected at Ellen's house one New Years Eve a while back. May he rest in peace and may his memory be a blessing for you all.

Dear Judy and family, I speak for many when expressing profound grief and sadness over Burt's death. Burt was a very special human being, an avid listener, an excellent lawyer and a great friend. Burt will be forever missed, with his genuine big heart, a smile from ear to ear, and the familiar "Hey Heath" when he wanted to share a story about his beloved family, his friends and his colleagues.
