David A. Meise
1930 - 2023
David A. Meise, 93, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2023 at Bridges by EPOCH nursing home in Trumbull, CT. David was born on January 14, 1930 in the Bronx, New York to the late Augustus and Alice Meise. Beloved husband of the late Ann Keeney Meise, whom he joins in heaven.
David was a proud veteran, having served in the Army during the Korean War (1951 – 1953) and achieving the rank of corporal while stationed in Fort Hood, TX. Professionally, David began his career in marketing and advertising at Batten Barton Durstine Osborn in 1947 but transitioned to purchasing, a career building decision that would lead to lengthy stints with a young Marriott corporation – working directly for Bill Marriott – American Airlines and eventually Intercontinental Hotels Group where he finished his private sector career as General Manager of Intercontinental Purchasing Services division. After retiring from Intercontinental in 1991, David would go on to run purchasing for New York Medical college until retiring for good in 2007. David was a graduate of Fordham Prep (1947) and Fordham University (1957).
In his youth, David was an avid fly fisherman, proudly tying his own flies. In his later years he would frequently be found on the tennis court. But his main focus in life was his Catholic faith. He and Ann were daily communicants and devoted to their parish – Church of the Resurrection in Rye, NY where David was head usher for many years as well as a Eucharistic Minister.
David is survived by his three children: Christopher Meise and his wife Joyce, Ann Marie Moayedi and her husband Kourosh, and Justin Meise and his wife Erica. Seven grandchildren; Kevin Meise and his wife Emily, Brian Meise and his wife Irina, Kelsey Meise, Ashley Moayedi, Alexandra Meise, Elissa Meise, and Stephen Meise. Four great grandchildren: Quinn, Easton, Thea and Zuko Meise. He is also predeceased by three siblings: John Meise, George Meise, and Ruth Brady.
