David Wade Obituary

WADE David L. Wade, age 57, previously of Trumbull, passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at home with his family. Son of Donald and Dorothy Miller Wade of Fairfield, he was born August 11, 1951 in Bridgeport. In addition to his beloved wife of 37 years Lynn Bodnar Wade, he is remembered by his three children, Scott Wade and his wife, Sarah of Greenwich, Kristy Wade Gabriel and her husband, Chris of Ithaca, N.Y., and Jennifer Wade Scofield and her husband, Mike of Stratford and is cherished by his grandchildren, Katherine Wade and Mason Gabriel. In addition, he is survived by his sister, Marybeth Kekac and her husband, Steven of Trumbull, and his brother, Tom Wade of Dallas, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Ann Wicke and her husband, Ronald of Trumbull and Patricia Sombati and her husband, Jon of Trumbull; two brothers-in-law, Paul Bodnar and his wife, Pat of Stratford, and Tom Bodnar and his wife, Deborah of Watertown; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and beloved sister, Deborah Laneville. In 2004, he had retired from Wade's Dairy, the family business started in 1893 by his great-grandfather, Frank Henry Wade. Dave graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1969 and remained heavily involved in the St. Joseph Community. He started the St. Joseph girl's soccer program in 1990 and this November, he celebrated their first FCIAC title as well as their second consecutive Class M State Championship. He was also an active member of the St. Joseph Alumni Association. Dave was heavily involved in the local community, serving as president of the Pinewood Lake Association for three years, coaching a Trumbull Little League team for six years, and coaching in the Trumbull United Soccer Program for six years. His real passions were working on cars, traveling with the Nor'Easters GMC RV club, spending time with friends and family, and enjoying life. Many thanks to the radiation team at St. Vincent's Medical Center, the Seventh Floor Nurses, all of Dave's close friends in transportation that made his hospital stays feel like home, and to all of the doctors who cared for him over the last two years. Calling hours will be held Friday, November 28, 2008 from 3 to 8 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 10 a.m. directly at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 220 Shelton Road, Trumbull. Lynn and Family,
My deepest sympathies to all of you. I am sorry that I did not learn of Dave's passing until last night, and was not able to pay my respect in person. As with everyone that knew Dave, he was a tell-it-like-it-is, no-nonsense kind of guy, and I always respected that immensely. Liked all that ice cream, too!

Lynn, you are a great lady, and I think you both were blessed by each others presence in your respective lives. I know you have lots of great memories. Hold on to them.... they are precious.

I was recently just thinking about the time you guys were having a big party at your house one day, and we saw a rabid raccoon in our backyard. Your guests must have wondered what exactly what was going on with your crazy neighbors when they heard the VERY LOUD gunshot (maybe not realizing it was from the animal control officer shooting that raccoon next door!). That must have been a fun one to explain! No easy way out of that!!!

I have very fond memories of Dave, of you, and your family. My warmest thoughts go out to you during this time, and May God Bless all of you.

warm regards,
Judy Szablak

Kristy and family, Dave will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of crossing his path. Keep the memories close forever and if you listen closely you might just hear that cow bell ringing as it did from atop the bleachers at every Etown soccer game!

Dear Wades,

I am so sorry to hear of Dave's passing. I know how hard he fought and what a great attitude he had through the whole ordeal. I am a better person for having known Dave. It was a pleasure to work for Dave at the Dairy and to continue our friendship even after I left. I want you all to know how much it meant to me and how much I appreciate the opportunity that he gave me when he gave me that job at the dairy. I enjoyed talking with him about cars and the RV whenever I got the chance to see him. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Sincerely,
Dennis & Denise Macura
